A few tips on how to keep your sterling silver & gold jewelry beautiful!
A simple cleaning solution safe for gemstone and pearls.
1 tablespoon baking soda
1 tablespoon dish detergent
1 cup water
1 piece aluminum foil
Directions:
Heat water in the microwave until hot.
Cut a piece of aluminum foil that roughly covers the bottom of a small bowl (like a cereal bowl).
Pour hot water into bowl. Place salt, soda, and dish washing liquid into bowl. Place jewelry on top of foil and let it sit for 5 to 10 minutes. Rinse jewelry in cool water and dry jewelry completely with soft cloth. Discard solution after use and make a new batch next time.
DO NOT use on copper.
If you store silver in plastic bags with a seal, it will be less prone to tarnish.
Try to protect any jewelry from scratches, sharp blows, harsh chemicals, extreme temperatures and sunlight.
Put your jewelry on after washing and applying any makeup/hair spray.
Never wear jewelry while swimming in a swimming pool. The chlorine can cause damage to various gemstones and gold.
Avoid storing your jewelry next to a heating vent, window sill or on a car dashboard.
Love what you wear!

I found it helpful when you said that silver will be less prone to tarnish if you store it in plastic bags. My husband and I are interested in shopping for a sterling silver permanent bracelet for our daughter who will turn 15 next month. We want to ensure that we can keep her aware of how she can keep her jewelry pieces damage-free for a long time, so your tips are helpful.
